If iMessage stopped working after you installed your eSIM, try the steps below to resolve the issue.
Check that your eSIM is activated
Make sure your eSIM is active and working correctly. If the eSIM is not fully activated, services like iMessage may not work.
Check your primary SIM settings
Ensure your physical SIM is still set as the Default Voice Line and that the eSIM is set for Mobile Data. Incorrect SIM assignments can cause iMessage to stop functioning.
Check your iMessage settings
Go to Settings, select Messages, and confirm the following:
iMessage is turned on
Your phone number and email addresses appear under Send and Receive
Restart your device
Restart your device to refresh its network and messaging services.
Reset your network settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset WiFi networks, passwords, cellular settings, VPN and APN settings.
Update your device
Go to Settings > General > Software Update and make sure your device is running the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
